Changes to GZW Events

Changes to GZW Events

Good afternoon everyone

As we mentioned recently, we’re making some changes to what we offer and how we operate at GZW Events. In this post we’ll go through the changes, how they’re being implemented and when you can expect them to go live.

Changes to home page and menus

The home page has been updated and we’ve stacked some of the pages in the navigation menu due to the what we’ve changed further down this post. These are aimed to make things easier for players and ensure information is easily available. You’ll now see the events menu look like this:

For example, you’ll see the new events calendar on the front page (same as below). This will be updated every week and is a great snapshot to see what we have going on in any given week.

A big thanks to MFG for their work on the template.

Changes to prize tiers

We’ve been working with MFG to review our prize tiers and have come up with revised packages to better reflect our events. We hope these new tiers spark some more competition amongst participants and make the events more enjoyable overall.

We will also be using these new tiers more accurately, with Tier 1 being the rarest reward and Tier 2 being less rare with Tier 3 being the most common. We will mix them up throughout the remainder of the update to keep them fresh and ensure we don’t saturate events with one tier in particular.

This change is effective immediately and all prize winners from this weekend’s events will receive these new packages.

Winners leaderboard

As our events run throughout an entire update cycle, we wanted to give participants an end goal and a reason to keep coming back week after week. To aid in that endeavour, we’re introducing a winners leaderboard for anyone who completes an objective during our weekend events.

Right now, anyone who completes an objective during our weekend events goes into the prize pool. We then pick a few random names from each event pool and they get the prizes, guaranteeing fairness and avoiding breaking the economy. This will still be the case BUT everyone who gets entered into the prize pool will also be placed onto the leaderboard. At the end of the update cycle, the top 5 on the leaderboard will get a reward package to start 0.4 with. Then the leaderboard is wiped and starts again.

You can only be entered onto the leaderboard once per event, so if you complete the objective in 2 events that weekend, you get added twice. If you complete the objective multiple times during the same event, you only get added once.

You can find the leaderboard here, we’ll update it every Tuesday alongside our Weekly Update to allow us time for admin, etc.

This is live now and all winners from this weekend’s events will be added.

Event modifiers

As many of you know, we have several scenarios/modes that we run on a weekly basis. Over time we understand these can become repetitive and our regulars end up playing the same mode several times in an update cycle.

Whilst we’re constantly coming up with new modes and converting them into longer-format variants, we wanted to add some extra flavour to each individual event. With that came event modifiers, a list of restrictions/options we can use to make each even different. In theory, we could run the same mode 3 times in a row and it’d be different each time.

Our aim is to use these in the majority of our events, there’s still a place for events as they stand but we wanted the option to make them different. We’ll state clearly whether these are used in the Discord post that announces the event starting.

You can find a list of our modifiers here and below:

  • Active Headsets must be equipped and muted
  • Silenced weapons only
  • No silenced weapons
  • No armour
  • No helmets
  • No COP usage
  • No food/drink
  • No medical items
  • No NVGs
  • NVGs only (or specific kind)
  • 1 magazine only (no reload, must pick up gun/use knife when empty)
  • No torches/lasers
  • Torches always on
  • Lasers must be equipped and on
  • No sights/scopes
  • Crouch only
  • No mortars
  • Mortar saturation on location (GM controlled)
  • Tracer rounds only
  • No grenades/specific ones only

These will be implemented from this weekend onwards so please give us your feedback and any other ideas you might have to add different twists to what we do already.

Summary

We hope the above changes will add a new lease of life to our events and give players something more to work towards. With that said, these aren’t the only changes we have planned, we’ve got several things in the pipeline that will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

Thanks
