The Team

The GZW Community Events originally started with TGxAltair asking the above question, from there he ran the very first event ‘Altair’s Airdrops’. After a couple of weeks, word got out and MFG caught wind of what he was doing. They offered their support, alongside others in the community who wanted to help. Gage, Reaver, Brick and Timmsy all expressed a desire to help and so the Community GMs were born.
Altair was placed in charged of the team and soon enough they were running multiple events each week and drawing in larger crowds each time. Thanks to the help of these volunteers (and others), as well as MFG’s backing, the events got bigger and better until they became what you see today.
Over time the team changed as people came and went, right now we have 5 Community GMs:
- TGxAltair (Team Leader)
- Tyy (US PVP-based)
- Infinity_SWAT (EU PVP-based)
- LEADFarmer (US PVE-based)
- FullThrottleDG (US PVE-based)
We’d like to express a huge thank you to everyone who’s ever volunteered, pitched an idea, helped promote or even just participated. Whether you’re on the front lines with us or part of the back room staff, it means a lot to have the support that we do. A special thanks goes to Virtual Yoda, who has been a staunch supporter since the beginning and was the catalyst to get this website off the ground.
Objective of the events
The objective of these Community Events can be summed up into one word: interaction. Our ultimate goal is to increase player interaction within Gray Zone Warfare, whilst also offering something new and different within the game.
Increased player interaction/encounters leads to increased player activity, which itself feeds back into more player interaction and so on. So we also hope that these events result in an increase in the amount of players overall, even if it’s just around the times of the events in the short term. People have been asking for different things to do or where to link up for PVE/PVP, we believe this is the solution.
We’ve already had some great feedback from the events we’ve ran so far. People have formed bonds, forged rivalries and spent hours gearing up just so they have the best chance when event day comes.
Our dream is to have our objectives/game modes replicated in game, so all players can take part organically without having to look outside of the game for information/briefings. We understand this is a long way off and are committed to running these events until such time this is a possibility.
Event modifiers
Whilst we’re constantly coming up with new modes and converting them into longer-format variants, we wanted to add some extra flavour to each individual event. With that came event modifiers, a list of restrictions/options we can use to make each even different. In theory, we could run the same mode 3 times in a row and it’d be different each time.
Our aim is to use these in the majority of our events, there’s still a place for ‘vanilla’ events but we wanted the option to make them different. We’ll state clearly whether these are used in the Discord post that announces the event starting.
You can find a list of our modifiers below:
- Active Headsets must be equipped and muted
- Silenced weapons only
- No silenced weapons
- No armour
- No helmets
- No COP usage

Prizes/giveaway
We have prizes both in-game prizes and Steam codes (provided by MFG themselves). Potential winners must complete the objective of the event they’re participating in, satisfying the win condition and providing evidence in the event channel on Discord. Once they’ve provided proof, they are added to the prize pool.
The day after the event, all potential winners are entered into a random picker and we select the winner(s). We also randomly select an edition for them to win. They are announced in Discord and we deliver the prize(s) directly to them.
In-game prizes
In-game prizes are separated into 3 different tiers and delivered directly by MFG to winners via in-game messages.

Steam giveaway
MFG were kind enough to supply us with some Steam keys for Tactical, Elite and Supporter editions of GZW.
If they already own the edition they’ve won, they have the option to nominate a friend to receive it or refuse it and someone else is drawn.
Promotion/marketing
Originally, we were advertising the just in the main Discord but have since grown noticeably. We now have MFG’s backing, with their marketing team posting on social media for events and volunteers/content creators also putting the word out.
This has caused the events to grow substantially in size, but with more participants comes more difficulty as we need to provide more interaction for a larger audience.
Going forward, we hope MFG will keep promoting the events and help get the word out as there’s a vast difference when they promote it versus when they don’t. We ask that you spread word throughout the community and jump in to join us.
We’re eternally grateful for all of the support from both MFG and the community, we hope we can continue to run these events for many years to come.
